Leabrooks butcher Owen Taylor and Sons has spent the past few weeks picking up more awards – and it’s celebrating by offering our readers a pair of Christmas hampers.
The firm was founded in 1922 by Owen Taylor – great-grandfather of the present managing director Richard Taylor.
It won the Best Independent Butcher: East Midlands Traditional category for its Country Special banger during UK Sausage Week at the end October. Days later, in the National Festive Meat Products Competition, it won the Supreme Champion Product accolade with its Turkey and Cranberry Pork Pie.
The first prize is a hamper worth £70 containing a 2kg turkey joint, a 1.5kg beef joint, a 1.8kg gammon joint, a 2kg boneless pork joint, a 1.1kg tray of sausages, 500g of sausagemeat, 20 pigs in blankets, a traditional pork pie and a huntsman pork pie.
The runners-up prize is worth £50 and includes all of the above except the beef joint and the huntsman pork pie.
A third winner will take home a £25 Meat of the Week pack containing two gammon steaks, eight pork sausages, 1lb of mince, 1lb of stewing steak, two chicken fillets (or four chicken legs), a large steak or mince and onion pie and a pork joint or whole chicken.
And the fourth prize is a £10 Mid-Week Meat Pack worth £10. This contains four chicken fillets, 500g of minced beef and eight pork sausages.
To enter our competition, just answer the following simple question: who is the managing director of Owen Taylor and Sons?
The closing date for the hampers was December 11 and that for the meat packs is February 5. Usual competition rules apply.
Please press the Submit button only once – and note that our competitions are for readers of Taste the Seasons only. Entries submitted via competition websites and forums will NOT be accepted.
